LA Edge Festival 1999

this was an art event that took place at Bergamot Station and a few other places over about a week in September. Two girls from the audience just couldn't stand it that someone else had the spotlight, so they kept strolling arm in arm through our performance, trying hard to look like they were on their way to something important. I was fooled at first, but they did it 3 or 4 times. Of course they were nowhere to be found after the show..the girls in the performance went looking for them.

I love this picture because of that big white circular shape above us. We still cannot figure out what it is. It isn't a spot light (there is no building up there-just sky) and it isn't a lens flare (there is clearly stuff in front of it).

Thank you for the comment. its just this little F-you at the world that achieves nothing. There is a big turnaround with the performers because it is hard work for no pay and no return other than a thank you from me. I have to beg and plead to get the 15 or so people together to do one of these. I'm the only "member" really. And we use Tide mixed with special fairy dust (which i got from the North Pole where i live) to keep the dresses so clean.

Well, i couldn't say..I've never been there, but i would think if anything people in the U.K. would be more appreciative of stuff like like this, if only because they get a better education than the people here. That is kind of what it takes. The women who perform this do it mostly because they like the message it sends, and believe in it as an art piece.

you probably know about Flashmob.. http://www.flashmob.co.uk, which i think started in the UK, and which has some similarities.
